Slow Cooker Beef Bourguignon Recipe

A classic dish made simple and easy in a slow cooker. First sear Allen Brothers brisket in a hot skillet before placing it in the slow cooker then let it do all the work. Serve with mashed or roasted potatoes and you’ve got a comforting meal ready to go.

Ingredients

3 lbs beef brisket

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 medium onion; sliced thick

2 large carrots; peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces

1 lb mushrooms; halved

1 tablespoon fresh thyme; plus, additional for garnish

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 cup beef broth

1 cup red wine

1 can tomato sauce; 8 oz.

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Brown the brisket on both sides then add to the slow cooker.

2. Add the onions, carrots, mushrooms, thyme and minced garlic to the slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth, wine, tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Cover and cook on high for 5 hours if slicing, or 6 if shredding. Transfer the brisket to a cutting board and slice or shred. Spoon the juice and vegetables over the meat to serve.
