A properly cooked filet mignon is buttery, juicy, and subtly beefy — not as robust or rich as a well-marbled ribeye or a New York strip steak, but that subtlety means you can pair this tender cut with a wide variety of seasonings, sauces, and marinades.

Filet is expensive because it’s limited in quantity (each cow only has two tenderloins) and because it’s so consistently tender and delicious. You’re paying for the quality of the beef as well as the unforgettable experience that comes with eating such a superior steak.

Filet mignon is one of the most popular steakhouse cuts because it’s tender, juicy, and relatively lean. Its innate flavor profile is tasty all on its own, but filet also takes well to all kinds of sauces, seasonings, and marinades. In short, it’s versatile, memorable, and a surefire crowd-pleaser.

Yes. The strip’s firm texture, moderate marbling, and defined fat cap make it one of the best steaks for high-heat grilling. It holds its shape on the grill and develops a great crust. Best served medium-rare to medium.

Both are premium steaks, but they come from different sections. Ribeye has more marbling and a richer, butterier flavor. New York strip is slightly leaner with a firmer bite and bolder, beefier taste. Ribeye is more forgiving to cook; strip rewards precision.

Is New York Strip Steak Tender?

Yes, the New York strip is naturally tender due to its origin in the longissimus muscle, part of the short loin. While not as tender as filet mignon, it offers a firmer bite with a more pronounced beefy flavor.

What is the Difference Between Top Sirloin and New York Strip?

The top sirloin comes from the sirloin section, a leaner area with less marbling. In contrast, the New York strip boasts a richer beef flavor and tender texture, making it a superior choice for many.

Does NY Strip Have a Bone?

Most New York strips are boneless, but bone-in options like the T-bone steak and club steak include portions of the strip loin steak and tenderloin, enhancing their flavor.

Amazing meats and seafood

"I work in a higher end restaurant where we serve high quality meats and seafood from Allen Brothers. I wanted to create that same experience at my home for my friends and family and started ordering meats and seafood directly from Allen Brothers. We are all extremely impressed either way the quality and taste of all their products, and their outstanding customer service."

Awesome NY Strip

"It arrived well trimmed and did not need additional work. I seasoned it with Morton's Kosher Salt and black pepper, then cooked it on a hot grill outdoors until I had a good sear on both sides, then turned the heat down until my poke test was right and a pat of unsalted butter had a chance to melt. A perfect medium rare that melted in my mouth and the flavor was the best."

Great Gift

"Second time I bought Allen Brother’s for my father who loves to grill steaks on a Saturday night. He’s one of those people who is hard to buy gifts for because he doesn’t need anything."

Can cut with a fork

"Incredibly well packaged arrived totally frozen! Nice thick cut. Cooked over charcoal, which I think gives a better taste than a gas grill. . my girlfriend and I were blown away about how tender it was. Certainly not a cheap cut of beef, but would be excellent for special occasions. I just ordered some of their ribs. Can’t wait to try them. Once again arrived well packaged not like some of the other organizations I have ordered from."
