Blackened Skirt Steak Recipe

A gluten free main that goes great with sautéed bell peppers and garlic mashed potatoes. An easy mid week meal. The blackening seasoning will last up to 3 months in the pantry so you’ll have some on hand for when the blackened seasoning craving strikes. It goes well with fish chicken and vegetables.

Ingredients

2 8oz Allen Brothers skirt steaks

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 tablespoons blackened seasoning; See recipe below

2 tablespoons butter

Blackened Seasoning Ingredients:

(Makes approx. 1/4 cup)

1 tablespoon paprika

2 tablespoons smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

2. Bring steaks to room temperature*. Brush both sides of the steaks with olive oil and rub the blackened seasoning over it.

3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat for five minutes. When the pan is hot, melt the butter and add the steak. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side.

4. Remove the skillet from the heat and place in the preheated oven. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until desired doneness.

5. Remove the steak and transfer to a cutting board. Cover with aluminum foil and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
