Allen Brothers Stanley Cup Donation

Chicago, IL (May 27, 2010) — As part of the historic Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Wager by Mayor Richard M. Daley, Allen Brothers donated six boxes of 34 ounce, USDA Prime “Blackhawk Chop” Long Bone Ribeye steaks and 5,000 steak burgers, along with assortments of Allen Brothers side dishes. The donations went to Blackhawks charities.

The special wager began when Mayor Daley challenged Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson just prior to the playoff series between the Blackhawks and the Canucks, which Chicago won 4 – 2. Mayor Daley continued his Stanley Cup Wager with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter leading up to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals between the Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Allen Brothers donation of steaks, burgers and assorted side dishes was part of a special event celebrating the Blackhawks reaching the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1992. Blackhawks Chairman Rocky Wirtz and Team President John McDonough hosted the charity gala at the United Center and saw a great turnout by Chicago food companies and institutions.
