Katie Lee Joel Awarded Best Burger in New York City Featuring Allen Brothers USDA Prime Beef
Brooklyn, New York (October 14, 2008) – On Friday evening, October 10, Allen Brothers defended their February win at the 2008 South Beach Wine & Food Festival and took home the coveted People’s Choice Award at the 2008 Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival’s BURGER BASH hosted by Rachael Ray. Over 1,500 of New York’s most discerning burger gourmands chomped, chewed, imbibed and voted for best burger and after taste-testing 18 submissions from some of the city’s most well known burger establishments, people overwhelmingly awarded cookbook author and television lifestyle correspondent Katie Lee Joel’s Logan County Burgers made with Allen Brothers USDA Prime beef as the overall favorite.
Allen Brothers deftly scored a follow up win to their triumph with Radius’ Michael Schlow at the 2008 South Beach Wine & Food Festival at this year’s first-ever Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival. “It’s no coincidence that Allen Brothers has provided beef to consecutive winners of the Rachael Ray hosted BURGER BASH. Our USDA Prime beef in the hands of the best culinary minds is clearly a successful combination” says Allen Brothers President, Todd Hatoff.
Presided over by Rachael Ray, the BURGER BASH showcased a fiery lineup of competitors including Tom Colicchio (Craft Steak), David Burke (DavidBurke Prime at Grand Pequot Tower, Foxwoods Resort Casino), Adam Perry Lang (Daisy May’s BBQ), Art Smith (Table Fifty-Two), Al Roker, Shake Shack, Emile Castillo (Burger Joint), Michael Lomonaco (Porter House New York) and Mike Price (Market Table). Katie Lee Joel squashed the competition with her down home patties featuring Allen Brothers Prime beef.
Allen Brothers is proud to be a sponsor of the 2008 Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival which raised nearly 1 million dollars for the hunger fighting initiatives Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength. They are the leading purveyor of USDA Prime aged beef in the United States and supply their superior product to some of the nation’s finest restaurants and amateur gourmets. Allen Brothers is delighted to support the 2009 South Beach Wine & Food Festival (February 19th – 21st) and look forward to taking the competition head on for a third Burger Bash in a row!
