Super-special (and super-easy!) summer dinner menu

It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy, so what do you if you want to have friends over for a knockout dinner party—but you don’t want to slave away for hours in a steamy kitchen? If you spend just a few minutes right now planning an unforgettable dinner, your work is nearly done. Picture this: Ultra-tender and decadent ribeye steaks, a side of chipotle–spiked sweet potatoes, and a luscious peach cobbler for dessert. Before you say, “Whoa there! I wish I had the time to pull that off,” I have five words for you: Order everything from Allen Brothers.

It’s that simple: You can broil or grill the ribeye steaks in a flash: Just preheat the broiler to high (or the grill to medium-high), then lightly coat the steaks with olive oil and sprinkle them with salt and pepper, and broil or grill 8 to 10 minutes on each side for medium-rare. You’re done. (The simple instructions are also in the insert that comes in the ribeye package, along with tips on roasting or searing.) And now for a stellar side dish: At Allen Brothers, we’re proud of our signature sides, lovingly prepared for us by talented chefs. Some of my personal favorites: The Scalloped Potato and Turnip Au Gratin (creamy, buttery goodness), and the Creamed Spinach (better than any steakhouse’s, in my humble opinion). As for the Chipotle Sweet Potatoes, they’re spicy-sweet, with smoky chipotles and a pecan-streusel topping. All you have to do is heat up the pre-cooked dish, present it on your favorite serving plate, and watch guests break into a big smile. Hmm, should you pass the dish off as your own? That’s your call. After all, you did reheat it yourself…   For an extra touch, whip up your own favorite salad, and you’re done.

What about dessert? We have that covered too. Our heat-and-serve Peach Cobbler makes a dreamy end to a steak dinner, and our Caramel Apple Pie is a knockout.

Whatever you choose to serve your summer dinner-party guests—make sure to check our web site regularly for special Internet-only offers—you’ll find it all right here at Allen Brothers. Stay tuned for more easy-livin’ entertaining tips all summer long.

Yours,

Allie B.

  1. I’ve tried every ribeye I can find and have to say: Allen Bros are the ones to beat. The dry-aged ribeye are pretty much the dinner party secret weapon in our house. Thanks for the tips on sides and desserts too. We might cheat next time and serve the entire dinner from Allen Bros…. if I can talk my wife into it!
